Journalism Under Fire
Bill Moyers
This is a speech given by Bill Moyers at the Society of Professional Journalists' 2004 National Convention. It discusses a journalist's opportunity and obligation to report the truth, well researched and accurately told. He speaks of the effects governmental secrecy and corporate influence on journalism. A very good article, one that gave restored my faith that there are those out there willing to inform the public of things worth knowing about and willing to fight to see it published.

Nothing To Hide
Daniel J. Solove
A very good philosophical look at privacy and how it is weighed against national security. This paper covers the importance of a conceptual view of privacy, provides a taxonomy of privacy violations, and discusses many of the fallacies of the knee-jerk pro-privacy and pro-security arguments. The paper speaks specifically to the pervasive "I have nothing to hide" argument, it's strengths, and its ultimate shortcomings. One of the few thorough, well though-out arguments on privacy out there.
